What is facade cleaning?

Over the years, facades of offices and educational buildings often become dirty and dirty. This is due to the weather or, for example, vandalism (such as graffiti). Do you want to get rid of here? Then facade cleaning is the solution. Facade cleaning is the removal of deposits and pollution on your facade. In other words: cleaning the outside wall. Façade cleaning is increasingly carried out, because it is an important form of maintenance and because it determines the appearance of your building to the outside.

Why have your facade cleaned

A clean facade ensures a fresh appearance and a better condition of the facade of your building. This ensures that the value of your property increases. Cleaning your facade also prevents future damage, such as cracks in the facade or damp spots in your building. In addition, it extends the life of your building by cleaning the facade. Having the facade cleaned by facade cleaners from Q3-Schoonmaak has several advantages:

  • The right cleaning agents: our specialists work with professional facade cleaning agents. We also have the right equipment, such as special high-pressure cleaners, with the right nozzle to prevent damage to the facade.

  • The right cleaning method: your Q3-Schoonmaak specialist knows which cleaning method is best to use for which specific facade type. In this way you can be sure that no wrong cleaning method will be used, so that your facade will not be damaged.

  • Impregnation after facade cleaning: as soon as your facade has been cleaned, it is important to guarantee the result. We do this through impregnation. This ensures that the facade becomes moisture-repellent and that the film adheres less easily. As a result, the facade will also need to be cleaned less often in the future.

Various types of facade cleaning

There are many different ways to clean different facades. The type or type of pollution determines which method is best to get the facade nice and clean again. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Facade cleaning with steam

Cleaning by means of steam is often used to clean light pollution - such as algae, moss or remains of ivy. With this method of cleaning, the water is heated to 150 degrees. The heated water is then sprayed against the facade under high pressure. The steam that is released during this process causes the light pollution to release from your facade. The big advantage of this method is that no polluting or environmentally harmful agents are used when cleaning the outside wall. The 'waste water' can simply be flushed away. Cleaning facades with steam is a cleaning method that is used very often. This cleaning method is also known as industrial facade cleaning.

Facade cleaning via moisture and mist jets

We can also clean the facade of your building by means of moisture or mist jets. With moisture blasting, a mixture of sand and water is sprayed onto your facade under high pressure. This way of cleaning the outside wall is slightly more powerful than steam cleaning. The jets are more powerful and can therefore also remove stubborn dirt. In some cases, mist blasting is the right solution to restore the facade to its original colour. Q3-Schoonmaak uses mist jets when it comes to a very old building with historical or monumental value. The facades of these buildings often discolour over the years. These facades do require a careful approach. You obviously do not want the cleaning method to leave traces on your beautiful monumental building. Spray blasting - with which the facade is cleaned under very light pressure - is therefore a very suitable way of cleaning facades.

Chemical cleaning

Do you have paint residue on your facade or some soot deposits? Then chemical cleaning is often the right method to achieve the best result. With chemical cleaning, we apply a chemical agent to the facade. This facade cleaner ensures that all the dirt that is present on the facade dissolves. The wall is then sprayed with water. Because the chemical facade cleaning agent may not end up in nature, we collect the waste water in bins.

Removing graffiti with sandblasting

Is your facade contaminated by graffiti? Sandblasting is one of the methods to remove this from your facade. Removing graffiti is very specialized work. That is why sandblasting is only used for very heavy pollution. With sandblasting, a blasting agent is added to the water. This combination is then sprayed against the facade of the building under very high pressure. The added agent makes the jet more powerful, making the facade easier to clean.

Repair joints

Facade cleaning and grout repair are often done in combination. Over the years, stone jointing has to endure a lot. Precipitation, traffic pollution and vermin, among other things, affect your facade. Over time, joint parts may crack and become loose. To prevent further damage to the facade, it is important to repair the pointing in time. This way you prevent more serious damage and the facade can last for years to come.
